Quartz worktop maintenance

Quartz contains more than 93% natural components and, to a lesser extent, other components to ensure the right colour and consistency. Manufacturing the worktop involves cutting quartz into a suitable size after which its edges and surface is finished.

Quartz worktops are durable, waterproof and easy to clean. When properly maintained, they will last for decades.

Daily cleaning

For the daily cleaning of a quartz worktop, we recommend using damp (microfiber) cloth, warm water and, if necessary, either a neutral (pH 7), mild alkaline (pH 8-10) or mild acidic (pH 4-6) detergent. Look after cleaning products especially designed for quartz and avoid using highly acidic or products  containing bleach. Abrasive materials may also damage stone surfaces.

Preventing and removing stains

Quartz worktops should be carefully protected against staining. Avoid spilling chemicals and corrosive substances on the worktop. The best way to avoid staining is to remove any dirt from the worktop immediately, so that it does not dry and get absorbed in the stone. Usually it is sufficient to use a paper towel, water and a detergent to clean the surface.

In case of heavy staining, we recommend using a special cleaning product designed for quartz surfaces. After using the cleaning product, we recommend to wash the worktop again with clean water and the detergent.

Avoiding heat damage and scratches

Quartz is not completely heat resistant, i.e. it can stand the heat only temporarily and may crack as a result of a thermal shock. It may also cause heat damage to the worktop (e.g. trace of a hot cookware) as the resin in the composition of quartz melts at high temperatures. For example, we strongly recommend using special trivets when placing hot objects on the surfaces containing mirror flecks (surfaces from our Starlight series) in order to prevent damage to the surface. We do not recommend placing hot objects directly on quartz surfaces, even temporarily.

Although quartz is rather scratch resistant, we still recommend using special cutting boards to avoid possible damages.

Long-term maintenance

When used indoors, polished quartz worktops do not require impregnation (i.e. treatment with a special sealant), because quartz does not absorb liquids. When used outdoors, the colour of quartz may change over time.
